Excellent. 44 miles on the train again today. I love trains. I was reading Pat Barker’s Regeneration, and you can’t do that driving a car.
But going out on the bike provides a real mini adventure.
So tomorrow morning I’m interviewing vicars for an interesting rural job near here in Warminster. A 6 mile bike ride on the grand Pashley will get me there.
Rain is forecast for tomorrow evening. If all is well, after the interviews i aim to cycle into Salisbury to meet an Iraqi refugee who is part of Christian Aid’s 2014 campaign. In Holy Week I’m walking out on to the downs and spending the night praying in a restored nineteenth century Shepherd’s hut as part of the campaign on refugees.
You can read on the train, but there is nothing quite like the rhythm of physical exercise like cycling. Swimming is good too, but the scenery is generally better when you cycle.
