Wiltshire is a beautiful county. Today i am walking from Berwick St John to Odstock down the Chalke Valley.
The three bishops in the Salisbury Diocese had the idea that during Lent we would each go on three walks, one together and two separately. We would walk from church to church, asking people to join us for prayer, and if they wished to travel along for some or all of the walk.
A pilgrimage walk is itself a form of prayer.
So today there are 10 or so churches and 20 odd miles. A pilgrimage through this beautiful valley, largely on footpaths.
I’m on the train to Salisbury. Then there’s a quick dash down Fisherton Street to catch the bus to Berwick St John. I haven’t been on a bus outside London for years.
