Temptation

Sorely tempted this morning. Red shiny car still sitting outside looking unused and neglected. A day of shunting back and forth by train and bike: Salisbury, Melksham, Trowbridge.

A typical day. And like most others, entirely designed around jumping in the car and moving seamlessly from one appointment to the next.

Then, of course, the IPCC report on climate change is main news on the World Service and again on Today on Radio 4. Yes, there is a need to adapt to increased temperatures. But we also need to “mitigate the risks”.

Mitigate is a rather feeble word when the risks they catalogue are huge.

So I resisted temptation and I’m on a train going down the Wylye Valley, temptation, this time, behind me.
