To Salisbury to meet Sarjon an Iraqi community worker, supported by Christian Aid. He is over here to support their work.
He told me of how until a few years ago there were 1½m Christians in Iraq, but since the war and with subsequent persecution.of Christians most have fled. Only 10% remain. These ancient Christian communities which trace their lineage back to the time of Christ.
He was amazed to learn of Christian Aid Week. He was determined to go home and tell people of the way that individuals contributed £12m by door to door collection.
Time pressures got on the way today. Interviewing vicars took longer than expected, so I missed out on a sunny ride to Salisbury. Still did 15 miles on the bike and 44 on the train. Tomorrow should be close on 100 on train bus and walking..
Total 781 miles, 608 on the train, 173 cycling, 2 on the tram and 2 walking.
